Manage Pain and Discomfort
While waiting for your appointment, rinse your mouth with warm saltwater and take over-the-counter pain relievers as directed. Avoid aspirin, which can increase bleeding.
Preserve a Knocked-Out Tooth
If a tooth is knocked out, handle it by the crown (not the root), rinse it gently with water, and try to place it back in the socket. If that’s not possible, keep it moist in milk or saliva until you reach our office.
Apply a Cold Compress
For swelling or facial injuries, apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek to reduce inflammation and numb the area.
