Implants Bone Graft
Dental implants are completely safe and can be placed with patients who have gum disease, patients who smoke, or patients who have missing teeth and wear dentures. Implants can be used to replace one or more missing teeth or help provide stability to dentures.
Dental implants are titanium posts that get inserted into the jaw bone. After the implant bonds with the existing bone to provide a solid foundation, the replacement tooth looks, feels and function like a normal tooth. Furthermore, implants prevent the bone deterioration that typically results when a tooth is missing.
When teeth have been missing for a while, bone has a tendency of resorbing or disappearing. We numb you up the same way you get a filling. The dental implants are placed gently into the missing area. Sometimes, bone grafting may have to be placed around the implant to ensure its stability.
This is done at the SAME time you get the implant. You go to the work the same day with minimal discomfort! You will NEVER be without teeth. Your denture will be adjusted the SAME day to fit over the area. After a period of healing, typically about 3-4 months, a replacement tooth can be placed.
