Depending on the color of the teeth, and the desired shade of white, different methods may be taken to whiten the teeth sufficiently for each patient.
The replacement of silver or off-colored fillings with tooth colored or white fillings is another form of cosmetic dentistry that we perform, and this helps patients to have less noticeable fillings as well as a more natural looking tooth structure. In previous years, nearly all fillings were a dark silver color, much different than the natural white color of teeth, and these filled areas become very noticeable within the mouth when the material used to fill the tooth does not match the color of the tooth structure itself. At Island Dental Associates, we take out these silver colored fillings and replace them with a white filling material to leave even filled teeth looking natural and healthy!
